"Life Isn't All Ha-ha He-he", by Meera Syal
You would think a book with that title, written by an actress who is famous for her comic roles, and bearing a colourful, glittery cover, would be a light, amusing read. It tells you on the cover, too, that it's really funny - but it isn't! It's a very serious, slightly dull read about three Asian women in England - their lives, hopes, friendships and betrayal of each other. I read it through to the end anyway and then felt even more let down as it kind of fizzles out, rather than reaching a conclusion.
Definitely the opposite of Ronseal: it doesn't do at all what it says on the tin!
